January's Tank of the Month Harpo's 125 gallon tank Set-up:
Below the tank we have a 30 gallon rubbermaid refugium. The refugium houses a variety of macros, live rock, live sand, pods, and baby brittle stars. The sump is of the same size and contains a Cedra 1200 return pump, and Euro reef cs-6 skimmer. Fish inhabitants include 1 marine betta, 1 royal gramma, 1 purple chromis, 1 sargassum trigger, 4 green chromis, 1 Scott's fairy wrasse, 1 blue mandarin goby, and 1 midas blenny. Clean up crew includes 5 emerald crabs, a number of cerith snails, a number of nassarius snails, turbo snails, black turbo snails and a large brittle star (not to mention a baby fiddler that hides, came as a hitch hiker on our cluster acropora). The corals include 1 doughnut coral, 1 button coral, 2 devils hands (one being an offspring of the other), 2 toad stools, green star polyps, 2 pagoda cups, 1 yellow scroll, 1 purple tree gorgonian, 2 rose BTA (one being the offspring of the other), 1 finger leather, 1 yellow leather, 1 dersa clam, 1 maxima clam, 1 green cactus acro, 1 cluster acro., 2 staghorn acro., 2 feather dusters, 1 trumpet coral, 1 green hammer coral, blue mushrooms, 1 trachphyllia rose coral, 1 red open brain, parazoanthus yellow polyps, green button polyps, orange button polyps, white pulsing xenias, regular xenias, orange ball sponge and blue sponge. I think that covers it. I am happy to say
(knock on wood) we have never had a major problem or crash in this tank.
We have fought and won over cyano, and fight off and on with red tide.
